Column 1 - Country name (Obvious)
Column 2 - Frequency used. If it says 1800 then any Orange phone will work. If it says 900 then you either need a dual band phone or to put your SIM into a 900 (Vodaphone & Cellnet) phone.
Column 3 - The foreign operator (most have a link to the Web page of the company)
Column 4 - The display your phone is likely to say. Codes displayed on the handset are dependent on the individual programming within that handset. As there are many new networks appearing the display can often show the country initial(s) followed by the 2 digit code. - e.g. Netherlands - Telfort could be shown as NL-12
Column 5 - If there is a Green tick then click on it to get an on-line coverage map. A red cross indicates there is no map I have found. Please let me know if you find one.
Column 6 - Unlike Talk Plans Orange seem to charge a fixed rate for SMS abroad. However, it might be possible to use a Foreign Message Centre - if you can find one that works this will be the cost you are likely to be charged. (Can anyone confirm). For the best SMSC list on the web click here!
Column - 7 This shows whether LOCAL free phone numbers (i.e. NOT UK 0800 numbers) are available via that foreign network for free as per Orange. If they are accessible but charge the Peak/Off Peak cost is shown
Column - 8 Unlike Orange a lot of foreign operators charge in minute or half minute units.
Column - 9 Unlike Orange a lot of foreign operators have a minimum charge
Column 10 - This shows the Peak/Off Peak cost of calls back to the UK and locally per minute (ex VAT) - calls made in countries outside the EU I believe are not liable for VAT (as was the case when I was in Romania). Also the incoming cost is not always the same as the Orange rate for calling that country as some foreign operators put an incoming surcharge e.g.Russia & USA. Yes since Orange 'Simplified' as they put it their charges local calls now cost the same as an international call!!
Column 11 - This shows the cost of receiving a call whilst roaming in that country on whatever network you are on.
Column 13 - Misc notes.
